Course Title: Part 1 Certification Basic Training for Joint Health and Safety Committee Members

Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm each day

Prerequisites: None


Program Content

ACUTE’s 3-day Part One Certification training provides learners with an overall knowledge of health and safety that applies to all workplaces. It includes training in:

  • Health and safety law
  • Hazard recognition
  • Risk assessment
  • Hazard control
  • Accident and incident investigation techniques
  • Prevention resources

Every Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) must have at least two certified members: one representing workers, and one from management. One worker and one management-designated JHSC member must complete Part One and Part Two of the training to maintain active certification status.

Acute Environmental & Safety Services is an Ontario Chief Prevention Officer approved provider of this course

You will learn by:

  • Classroom interaction with experienced instructors
  • Overview of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Exercises to increase retention
  • Detailed handouts and quizzes
  • Tips and information for developing an effective committee.

Who should enroll in this training program?

This training program is appropriate for participants with all levels of health and safety experience – from novices to experts. Joint Health & Safety Committee members and those wishing to become certified members are also encouraged to enroll in this course. Please note, any company that regularly employs 20 or more workers is required to create a Joint Health and Safety Committee.
