working at heights refresher

Did you know a Working At Heights Refresher course must be taken within three (3) years of successfully completing an approved Working At Heights training program? According to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, your Working At Heights Refresher will “reinforce key learning outcomes for workers and will also keep learners up-to-date on any legislative, regulatory or equipment (technological) changes which may impact working at heights in construction.” If you are due for a refresher in 2019, don’t delay – contact ACUTE today and sign up for one of many Working At Heights Refresher courses being offered in 2019.

Working At Heights Refresher: Start Planning for 2019

Do You Need a Working At Heights Refresher?

You must take a Working At Heights Refresher every 3 years in order to remain Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development compliant. You must bring your Chief Prevention Officer-issued Working At Heights Proof of Training card. Please note: You will not be admitted into your course without this card. Failure to provide a card on the day of training will result in a forfeit of payment. If you have lost your card, you can request a replacement by calling the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Contact Centre: 1-877-202-0008.

As a reminder, As of April 1, 2015, employers in Ontario must ensure workers on construction projects who may use any of the following fall protection equipment:

  • travel restraint systems
  • fall restricting systems
  • fall arrest systems
  • safety nets
  • work belts or safety belts

must successfully complete an approved training program, delivered by an approved training provider, before a worker can begin work at heights. A refresher course is then required every three years.

If you do not have valid CPO working at heights training, you will be unable to work at heights on construction projects in Ontario.

If you’re going to be exposed to fall hazards during work, you will find this training beneficial. Although a Working At Heights training program is geared toward persons working on construction sites, others working in industrial, mining, or healthcare sectors will find the content comprehensive and relevant for your workplaces. Be sure to read our “2018 Guide to Ontario Working At Heights Training” for more.

The lessons include plenty of hands on components which definitely help retain the knowledge taught within the classrooms. Above all, the instructors know their stuff, they are all extremely knowledgeable and draw upon their own experiences to help engage the class. If I could give them higher than 5 stars, I would, and I would most definitely do my training refresher courses here again.” – Ali A
