Working at Heights Training Kitchener: Course Overview
Training Duration: 1 Day – 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Prerequisites: None
Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Approved: ACUTE’s Working at Heights training program has been approved by the Chief Prevention Officer under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development’s Working at Heights Training Program Standard and the Working at Heights Training Provider Standard. The ACUTE Working at Heights training provides theory and hands on practical training and evaluation facilitated by highly skilled and competent instructors.
Valid for 3 Years: The Working at Heights training is valid for three years from the date the worker completes an approved training program delivered by an approved training provider.
Who Needs to Take Working at Heights Training? Under O. Reg. 213/91: Construction Projects, you need to take Working at Heights training if you work on a construction project and are required to use any fall protection equipment. All operators AND passengers on elevating work platforms used on project sites must have Working at Heights training as well.
Required for Construction Sites: The Construction Projects regulation requires all workers who use/wear fall protection to have received Working at Heights training from a training facility which is approved by the Ontario Chief Prevention Officer as an Approved Training Provider. As such, all operators AND passengers on elevating work platforms used on project sites must have Working at Heights training.
Objective: Working at Heights training will:
- Strengthen your workplace safety culture by elevating the profile and importance of preventing falls from heights.
- Provide your workers who may be exposed to the hazard of falling with adequate knowledge about fall hazards and general safety practices to work safely at heights.
- Provide your workers who use personal fall protection equipment with sufficient knowledge about its purpose and use
- Reduce the number of fall-from-heights incidents, injuries and fatalities at your workplace.

Working at Heights (Practical Module – 3.5hr)
- Fall prevention / protection system requirements and limitations
- A-B-C component selection, inspection, use
- Harness inspection and fitting exercise & evaluation
- Lanyard inspection exercise and evaluation
- Travel restraint, fall arrest set-up exercise & evaluation
- 100% tie-off exercise and evaluation
- Ladders, scaffolds and elevating work platforms
- Rescue plan – components and purpose
- Safe work strategies and safe anchor exercise
- Written evaluation

- Classroom interaction with experienced instructors

Working at Heights Training Kitchener: How to Book
1. Select Your Course Date:
Select an available course date from our calendar and enter how many participants will be attending or contact us to set up a day for our trainers to come to your workplace.
2. Fill In Your Contact Information:
Fill in the required contact information for your business and for one employee participating in the course. If you have more than 1 attendee a representative from ACUTE will contact you shortly to gather all of your participants’ names.
For each attendee, use the same single email address in the “Primary Contact’s Email Address” field that you would like the registration confirmation to be sent to.
3. Make Your Payment and Receive Confirmation:
If you are registering on a weekend or after hours, please note that online registration MAY NOT be confirmed until an ACUTE service representative confirms registration with you on the following business day.
